Mymensingh Polytechnic Institute is unique of the oldest and very well-known Polytechnic Institute in Bangladesh. It was recognized in 1963 with individual 180 students in the first year classes of Diploma-In-Engineering in four Departments with the growing stresses of mid-level technical manpower home and overseas. The Institute is now successively with sequences in seven technologies; named- Civil Departments, Mechanical Departments,  Electrical Departments, Electronics Departments,  Power Departments, Computer & Electro-Medical Departments counting around four thousand students Mymensingh Polytechnic Institute(MPI) in Diploma Engineering College.

The Institute is situated at Mymensingh town area around one kilometers from the city towards south and arranged the east side of Maskanda,Dhaka to Mymensingh highway road is near 10 meters south of its connection. It covers an expanse of about 27 acres of plot.

Mymensingh Polytechnic Institute (MPI) functions under the policymaking control of the ministry of instruction, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh temporary through the Directorate of Technical Education in diploma Education College. The academic program's, however, purpose under the directive of the Bangladesh Technical Education Board in Bangladesh , Agargaon, Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Dhaka -1215 Bangladesh education .
