Chittagong Medical College is a government medical college in Bangladesh, recognized in 1957. The college was originated by the former Prime Preacher Hossain Shahid Sohrawardy. The History of the College & the Hospital CMC:

It is not known accurately when and how the practice of the western medicine started in Chittagong, the dangerous southeastern part of the Indian Peninsula. No dependable information is available before the establishing in 1901 of a 200-bed “Chittagong General Hospital” over a pinnacle at the downtown Anderkillah supervising the river Karnafuli- the only modern hospital in the district at the time. Library CMC:
