History of College (BMC):
Bangladesh Medical College is the main private medical
college in Bangladesh. It was reputable in 1986 by a group of steadfast people
called the founder members who were permeated with the ideas of providing
quality medical education, research and services to people of this country at sensible
cost. The College and the Hospital are run by Bangladesh Medical Educations and
Research Institute (BMSRI) which is a non-partisan and non-profitable association.
The members of the Institute are not entitled to any remuneration or dividends.
The objects of the Institute are
1. To promote and provide trainings in medical science
leading to standard graduate and postgraduate degrees.
2. To behavior research work on the illnesses predominant in
the country
3. To demeanor investigation on medical education with the purpose
of raising the normal of medical education in the country
4. To provide accomplished manpower in the health, nursing
and paramedical arenas
5. To provide superiority medical care and health services to
people at rational cost
The establishment of a medical college communicating medical
education leading to familiar medical degree was booked as the first and
foremost aim of the Institute. Through the untiring efforts of the Creator
Members the dream was realized against much antagonism when permission was
accorded by the Government of Bangladesh for the conception of the College on
13 April 1986.
Bangladesh Medical College started operative from 24 April
1986. The Dhaka University granted association to the College on 10 May 1988.
Bangladesh Medical and Dental Council have familiar the College. The first group
of students after the College seemed in the 1st Professional MBBS Examination
of the Dhaka University apprehended in March 1990 after completing two years of
agreed course of studies. The College has been recruited in the World Directory
of Medical Schools actual 1986 published by the World Health Organization which
enables the graduates of BMC acknowledgment all over the world. Graduates of
BMC are qualified for limited registration with the General Medical Assembly of
United Kingdom. They are also eligible to take the United States Medical Certificate
Inspection .Now the college has a new 6 storied theoretical building with
adequate parking facilities. It has now been conceivable to accommodate most of
the departments in more expansive place.
The attached Hospital is a tertiary care referral medical capability
and provides excellent exercise to students and junior doctors. The Hospital
has arrangements for 500 inpatients. It is well encouraged and provides quality
health care to the public at sensible cost. The entire hospital staff is enthusiastic
to excellence and service.
Student Teaching-BMC:
All Assistant and Secondary Professors teach students who are
positioned in the wards, every day in the morning. Students are positioned in
small groups of 8 students which recover the teacher- student interaction.
Student teaching in the morning is principally done by Faculty Members. Administrators
teach students in the evening session. Students are compulsory to complete
their cards before being allowable to take the MBBS final specialized investigations.
Post Graduate Teaching-BMC:
Regular postgraduate teaching is informed to Registrars,
Assistant Registrars and Imprisons with regard to theory, diagnosis and organization
of patients. Registrars and Assistant Registrars are heartened to attend
teaching meetings in class rooms and wards. Complicated cases are frequently deliberated
with them with a view to exercise them in the administration of patients.
Assistant Registrars have hands on exercise with regard to management of
patients. The Concentrated Care Unit and the Coronary Care Unit attend as ideal
points for teaching on disapprovingly ill patients.
Journal Club and Radiology Meeting-BMC:
Journal Club and Radiology Conference are held in clinical
departments once weekly and are joined by all members of the Section. Identifications
are read by the members of the Facility, interns and junior doctors and imperative
journals are regularly covered. Significant X-rays, MRI and CT scans are deliberated
by Radiologists. Seminars
Seminars and Clinical Meetings are held on a steady basis.
Presentations are made by notable speakers from the College, from other medical
organizations in Bangladesh and outside the country.
Morning Session-BMC:
Daily
discussion meetings are held every morning section wise with Interns, Assistant
Registrars and Facility Members. Interesting cases that are self-proclaimed the
earlier day are obtainable in detail by the Interns and the Assistant
Registrars sideways with the Adviser on call for the day. Indications, physical
cyphers, diagnosis, inquiries like X-rays, ECG and laboratory tests are deliberated in detail along with management plans. The
Morning Sitting is well attended and is an excellent teaching and knowledge
session for all.
FACILITIES FOR TRAINING-BMC:
Teaching Staff-BMC:
All departments have well competent members in their teaching
staff, skilled in Bangladesh, United Kingdom, United States and other
countries. The administration and the teaching staff are highly interested and
sincerely interested in optimal enduring care, and in the teaching of medical
students and junior doctors. Brilliant and intensive supervision is provided to
them.
Inpatients-BMC:
This entails of non- compensating male and female beds, disbursing
beds, and cottages for patients to be self-confessed. The College and Hospital
have a well-organized system of Interns, Assistant Registrars and Registrars in
training places. Admission of patients covers a wide range of pathology charitable
excellent exposure for training. All admissions are covered by Assistant Lecturers
and above. Morning and evening rounds, as well as vacation rounds are conducted
by them on a regular basis. In totaling, they come to the Hospital when they
are baptized even during odd hours. Patient care is reinforced by adequate
radiology and pathology facilities for investigations.
Intensive Care Piece/Neonatal Intensive Care Unit-BMC:
The Intensive Care Piece has 8 beds and critically ill
patients are regularly admitted with a high percentage of bed habitation. The
Coronary Care Piece has 8 beds. The list of patients include shock, coronary
heart sickness, respiratory and liver failure, patients with intestinal
bleeding, septic patients and other disapprovingly ill surgical, obstetrics/ gynecological
patients. The ICU and the CCU regularly accept referrals from BIRDEM, Dhaka
Medical College and supplementary Institutions in Bangladesh. They are well fortified
with ventilators, cardiac monitors, CVP lines and checking, pulse oximeter, lung
function test machine and are worked by physicians 24 hours a day throughout
the year. Neonatal Concentrated Care Piece has 3 incubators and aperture for
the administration of disapprovingly ill newborns.
Outpatients-BMC:
The Hospital has a busy Casualty Department. Patients may
obtain consultation at a negligible charge. There is also a fast pathway system
through which patients may be seen by a adviser of choice, directly, on payment
of a higher charge. There is an evening shift that twitches at 3pm and is open drawer
9pm on all working days.
Emergency-BMC:
The Hospital has a fully effective Emergency Subdivision that
delivers coverage through the evening, night and through holidays. It has its
own set of doctors who are free to pursue help from other facilities.
